Classic Camera Revival – Episode 98 – In The Loupe: Brandy

In today’s episode, Chrissie, Bill, and John are joined by fellow podcaster and film photography enthusiast, Brandy who is one part of the on a break podcast Film Photo Geeks. And is an amazing photographer in her own right.

Brandy got her start on the Film Photo Geeks as their house guest that never left and ended up being a guest host when the other host, Alex, could not sit in the chair. And even after Alex ended up getting a teaching job that interfered with recording and Brandy just stayed on with Laura. Brandy got her start in photography when her father purchased an X-700 and she wanted to be just like him and wanted to use the camera. Her father didn’t trust her to use his shiny new camera, but she continued to pester him. But in Highschool, she opted to take a special trade-school course which resulted in her taking courses in photography and darkroom use. Once she had gone through the program, her dad let her use the X-700 until she damaged it. After which he hid it, and she continued to borrow it. When he found out about that, he bought her an X-370, she now has that X-370 and her father’s X-700. Although she prefers working with her Nikon FE these days. When it comes to her work, she tends to act on the heart and how she’s feeling at the time rather than worry about the technical aspects and bounces all over the place. And while the ongoing global health crisis has impacted her photography, when she was encouraged to get out and take walks, her camera came along for the trips.
