Despite the group’s name, “Toronto Film Shooters Meetup,” we tend to host events beyond Toronto’s borders. There have been walks in Hamilton, Dundas, Niagara-On-The-Lake, Elora, Guelph, and Unionville. But this summer I decided to host one in my hometown of Milton, Ontario. And why? Sometimes you need an easy spot to take photos. And while for many years that spot has been my own downtown in Milton, Ontario. My first experience with downtown Oakville was in 2002, at the PYPS Fall Convention hosted by Knox Church, where I was on the committee that ran the event. I can’t recall when I first saw the historic city of Galt, Ontario. It was probably on a trip to see the outlet shops at the old Southworks location (now the Gaslight district), but I did do a bit of Urban Exploration in that same area several years later. Today, Galt is a part of the modern city of Cambridge, one of four historic settlements that merged in the 1970s. Like last year, I had a few extra days free to myself at the end of the year. So I rounded up the CCR team and headed into the city. The goal was to shoot some film and record an episode of the Classic Camera Revival for the start of our new season. I had a lot of fun last year working through some of my cameras and picking a different camera and film each month and shooting them for the enjoyment of photography. I don’t take folding cameras out that often. First, I only have a pair of them; second, they can be a pain to use.
